a freind of mine is going to race his kfx 400 for the first time this weekend, it's to late for mods now but we could sure use some ideas and upgrade info for future races. anythig you could tell us would be of great appreation & help. like shocks, shock brand, gearing, wheels & tires, all the things we would need to know for future motocross races. thanks R.W.

Any thing you can afford. But if it is stock just start off with simple upgrades like tires, exhaust, air filter and jet kit.

elka shocks w/res are the best imo.

Take the air box lid off and rejet it. I have a yoshi slip on, on my 04 Z and i took the lid off and rejetted and raced a 05 KFX and smoked it. Best mod i ever did.

guesset the frame alot, they are very weak.

this frame was takin apart like this it's not cut. and it's only pit riding and a little mx for fun no racing.

Now he broke it a total of around 30 time in diffrent place and has like 25 guessets.

and all the welding marks are fixing the frame

well every year they say they fix the problems but they just keep breaking.they are lighter then the EX but they should be like 5 pound heavier, suzuki cheated and made a weak frame.

The "normal" weak spots are the front upper shock mount. I don't really know about the rest, but you can even buy a guesset kit for it, so they are weak.

NOW, you might be able to jump for the next 10 years and never have a problem, I no alot of people don't have any problems, BUT alot do have problems. so it's kind of weird:huh

here are a couple of his guessets.

some are really overkill, bu it's the only way he found to make it hold up to trail and pit abuse,:huh

well there alot better then stock. but still not the best you can buy. But for the money they are ok. Just won't match elka's or axis.
