right now I have the dual rate works. does the triple rate have the same length "main" spring as the dual rate? if so then all I'd have to do is buy the 2 smaller springs, the little separator things, and put em on mine and I'd have triple rate shocks right?

stock length 300ex shocks aren't long enough to fit all 3 springs. That's why they don't sell them in a tripple rate version. The only way to get triple rates on a 300ex is to use a shockmount bracket and custom length shocks basically like a long travel setup.

here is a pic of a 300ex LT front end. it is 300ex plus 2 a-arms (dont use 400ex a-arms, and please do a search so you will understand why)a 400ex conversion bracket and custom elka shocks(these are tripple rate, piggy back rz with compresion adjust). (dont be afraid by the "custom" word. there not any more expensive than normal shocks, you just need to provide the company with some meaurements.

yeah I'm a little low on funds (aren't we all) or I'd have the extended a arms. this is my problem. my stock shocks broke a couple weeks ago and before doing too much research I went ahead and got the works dual rates. they were only like 350. I didn't even know about the bracket for 400 shocks till I started looking around. I wish I'd have researched more or I would've gotten the bracket with 400 shocks. it would've saved me money in the long run. I was just curious if I could go triple rate on the shocks I have. guess not, thanks for the reply's though. guads are lookin real nice guys

I've been runngin stock length Dual-Rate AT Steelers for about 5 years now. They work great and are more than you'll need for a non-pro rider. LT's are very nice.. but you couldn't use them on your stock a-arms anyway. If you go with the longer shocks you want to get the LT a-arms at the same time anyway.

You wont get the full effect of them until you replace the crappy stock rear anyway.

note: dont you love the "spot weld" they use to hold the stock shock together, lol. Horrible design. At least they didnt do it on the 450r's.

ha yeah that's the weld that broke too. I didn't realize (well think about it) that you need the arms with the bracket. This is pretty retarded but everyone keeps talking about LT. what is it? a company or what? I know I really need the rear shock but they're so dang expensive. know of any place that has em pretty cheap?

Cheapest would be to buy a used aftermarket one thats rebuildable.. and have it revalved and resprung for your riding style.

Rear shocks are always expensive. It's taking a lot more load than the front ones are.
