Has anyone seen the new suzuki z400's? or ridden one they look pretty sweet and from the specs looks like it should be close to a 400ex!

I raced a highly modded 91' LT250R yesterday and we took turns winning (depended on who got the best start). He was amazed at the power of my 4 stroke compared to his 2 stroke racer.

Let's see here is the best review I could give. I have now ridden mine in for about 5 hours and here we go. The power kicks on the high part of the rpm's. Nice feeling reminds me of winding out a sport bike. Suspension stock setting bottoms out a little when you get some big air. I think this can be corrected if it is adjusted. Corners well and will roost when needed. The motor is definitely strong with good response. Bike starts super easy. One push of the button and it starts. If you are looking for a loud quad or one to make some noise get a pipe cause this sucker is quiet. Seems like that parts was designed for Cali.

i have heard that this machine comes close to the perfection of the 250r. It supposedly has the powerband of a 2 stroke, doesnt spin like a to stroke, has the reliablitity of a four stroke, and the chassis is just superb, just like the 400s.

Hey Dave,

What do you want for the 300EX?

Don't get carried away with the 2-stroke comparison. Yes the power hits late, but not in the increment of a 2-stroke. Decent chassis, but there have people that have posted problems with the axle. I am not one of them, mine is fine. Supposedly this motor will wake up with a little bit of mods so I will have to update you as I start them.

People with bent axles must be dropping them off cliffs. I have jumped the heck out of mine with no bends and I weigh 220 lbs. I will keep my fingers crossed I guess.

Hi Alaska Jim!;)

My dad's 300 would be selling for about 4500. it is an '02 that has not even been broken in yet. my bike has the usual pipe and filter, re-jetted,oil cooler, bumper, 6pack rack, swing-arm skid, and renthals. I will sell mine anywares from 4200-4800. i dont know yet. we are only selling one. if we sell my dad(which is what i want) i will give him my 300. When my dad gets back (buisness(sp?) trip, we will discuss). Once we have everything figured out, i will pm u.

Thanks Dave... But I will kindly pass. They have new 300EX's where I bought my Z400 for $3950 OTD. I only paid $4954 OTD for my Z.

Put it on Ebay and maybe someone from an area where quads are expensive might pay you what you want.

My brother just sold his 98' Warrior on Ebay for $3300...

This is an awesome machine. If you'd like the input of owners of them, try the forum at atvconnection.com. There are plenty of satisfied owners there. You might also try z400centrail.com, but that's a very new site with not a lot of people on it yet.

i test drove both a 400ex and a Z400 yesterday. and i am compleatly unbiased. honestly the 400ex did have better suspension and felt more under controle. but it took me 7 minuts to start it and about 10 minuts to let it warm up (this was in 85 degree weather) i own a 250R right now and expected alot from the ex, i was very dissapointed it was very slow. it felt the same as my piped warrior if not less powerful. i was kinda sad when i got off the ex then i got onto the z400 and everything changed the z had just been put togeather and noone had ridden it yet , it started up on the first hit of the starter button. it warmed up within 2 mins after that i was in for a ride. the suspension felt a bit stiff in the front but i like it that way so i was happy. this thing has incredible torque i had to remember not to hit the throttle hard so i wouldnt weelie. dont get me wrong the machine is perfectly balanced it just has lots of torque. it def. reved alot higher than an ex and had a much broder powerbnand. i def. had more fun on the z than the ex and i am going to buy one asap. if anyone else were to test a z they would see where im comming from

Yeah, good choice. Just wait until you get over fifteen or twenty hours on it and it really starts to open up and rip.

ya i think so. im selling my race quad (250r) and my car(1976 mustang cobra) to get the z and mod it. i can get it for under 5000 because im sponsored bu the local susuki dealer. once i get it he will give me 75-100% off parts for it so im all set :) :)

I dragged my first z400 today..
Hes only had it two days so its not fully broken in yet...
They are fast, he got me through third before i caught up to him
but in top speed i pulled away slightly..<---not the slightly..
Im not totally hopped out in mods, but the Z has a lot of potential.
We rode in tight trails also but thats mostly about the rider.
But when I rode it I hit the rev limiter in fifth...i though that it kicked in a little pre-maturely

All and all though its a pretty good quad...i didnt hit any jumps with it...

oh well Ill race him again next weekend Ill get someone to take pics...
