View Full Version : rear axle removal

After you remove everything from the brake side of the axle, does the axle slide out of the carrier or does the carrier slide out of the swingarm? I've got all the clips and stuff off. Do I have to hammer it out or should it slide out? Does anyone have an exploded diagram? Thanks.

which atv are you working on? more often than not your axle will slide out of carrier.

It's a 300 ex. Thanks for the reply. Do I beat it out? I Don't won't to tear anything up.

tap on it a coupl times with a hammer while having someone wiggle/pull it out on the other end

Ya it should slide out. Just sounds like yours is stuck. be careful not to damage the end of the axle

A good way to protect the threads is to put the castle nut on backwards a few turns. Plus it gives a little larger target to hit. You shouldn't have to hit it too hard though and it'll come right out.
