Will a kx 250 bike engine fit in the frame, without cutting the tubes or anything. Will the swingarm bolt fit, without cutting the back of the engine off. And the 86/87 frames are stronger right, are they the same layout as the 88/89 but only stronger. Who could make a pipe to fit the engine frame, engine will have a 310cc kit.

You might want to reconsider if the engine isn't counterballenced. As for the frames, the 86 is the strongest, but there are some differences in the frame. Mainly the foot peg mounts, and how the swing arm bolts on.

No it isn't counter balanced, i don't see it causing any major frame breakage than a over rich stock engine or 120 foot triple's . But i can fabricate some isolator mounts. Is there any other Kawasaki engine that would be better, that has equal power 45+HP?

why does it have to be kawi?

if you're absolutely sprung on this project... at least make it so everything utilizes the stock mounting, otherwise it'll just end up as another waisted R frame, not many left that havent been butchered to chit these days. you can fab custom brackets to do it... then my hat'd be off to ya!:D

If you are looking for more power the '95-'97 RM/RMX250 motors have 51hp on tap from the factory. :D

y dont u just mod an R engine and bolt it in? its VERY easy to get 50 hourse out of 1 of them. i was getting over 40 hourse on a stockbore 246cc R engine.

Yes it will have custom mounts, reason i wanted to make sure no cutting of the frame. And i have always rode green. The frame i will be able to unbolt the 250, and bolt in a R engine if i wanted to. I don't believe in trusting my life to a hacked up frame. what will be needed to match up at the swing arm bolt. I'm thinking of isolator mounts like pipe hangars, good or would just solid aluminum be better.:macho

THis may sound weird but wouldn't it be easier to get a Tecate4 rolling chasis and then install a newer model motor?

The Tecate 4 is a good flat track TT quad. Tecates have a real good engine to begin with. But i would like to find one to use for flat track, anybody got one none running cheap or frame engine. for one. ive saw one in the last 5 years in middle TN.

i'm pretty sure that Roll did that conversion to Yokes Kawi in like 01-02? i read that he thought that the vibration was too much for the frame, bushings, bearings... you might want to call Roll and see what he says.

A buddy of mine put a cr 250 Bike motor in his 250R Frame he had to do some mods to the motor mounts, but i would think this thru first why i say this is because a bike motor(2 stroke) doesnt have a counterbalancer like the R motor does and it will shake your filling's out Trust me i rode it and didnt like it at all he did change it back to the 250R motor because he kept breaking the mounts do to the Ruff ride/shaking it caused:eek2:

If you want some real power put a cr500 engine in there!

I know some of you beg to differ but the 88-89 frames are stronger. there is less support on the 86-87 frame for the motor area which leads to cracking and the front shock mount area is weaker. hence the reason for the 88-89 being stronger, they have a motor mount on the rear and gusseting up by the shock mount.
