i have a 300ex and i do some ramping with it. do i need to adjust the shocks or not. when come down off a jump it feels like they need to be adjusted. thanks

I'd try one notch at a time... (Until you like it) But the SAME on both! If they're not bottoming out, you may not need to... your ride will just get a little firmer and landings may not be as soft...

I have my shocks in the front setup on the fourth notch from the bottom.so, the second biggest ones,lol. And on the back one i have it set on the third one.

what exactly feels like it needs to be adjusted too stiff to soft rebound, preload

I have the shocks on my 300ex adjusted on their hardest setting, and they still bottom.
The shocks on my 400ex are also adjusted at their hardest (the rear one is so easy to adjust). I have bottomed out my fronts a good 11 times now , but haven't got my rear to bottom.
