I bought my son a Kazuma to get him started, now I’m ready to get him a nice two stroke 50 so he be competitive racing. He will mainly be doing cross country racing with an occasional motocross race.

The main vendors around my area sell Suzuki and Kawaski.

One dealer carries the Alpha cobra, another carries the Jag jet, and there is one further away that carries Dinli.

The jag jet, seems to be the fastest little 50cc in our area. I haven’t heard much on this quads, but its looks nice and seems to fit the bill for the speed.

Just curious if anyone has any experience with the 50cc quads produced by Alpha or Dinli or Jag. It looks like Eton is pretty popular brand around here, but I don’t know where to find them around my area.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I recommend the Kasea Skyhawk 50. Don't know about the other 3 you mentioned. Sure Eton maybe a popular quad in your area, but I would give the Kasea a thought. There are a lot of aftermarket parts available for this quad. Majority of the top finishes at the races are on a Kasea and LRX.

To make sure you purchase the right model specify Skyhawk 50. Don't want to be like Dirtmomma and order yourself the "mini 50".

Check out miniatvs.com and look for Raptor 720.

If you want a 50 then I think the Kasea Skyhalk is the only way to go. It looks like Eton has changed their 50 and it's more like the mini 50 that Kasea has.

My second choice would be the Polaris 50.

I bought an Eton 70 last month for Dylan (6 years old) it cost me $1,799 out the door.

I would go w/ the Kasea Skyhawk 50 & NO don't do what I did :o LOL BUT we did just get the new one last night :D:D:D VERY VERY HAPPY w/ it!!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait to start getting accesories & modding it!!!! Also w/ the 50 after they grow out of it, speed wise you can put a 90 head on it & there you now have a 90 :D:D so your kinda killing 2 birds w/ one stone :)

I thought there was some talk about not letting the DRR’s run since they were not being offered in all areas. Or maybe it was parts that were not being offered in all areas. I know I read something about them.

A 90 head won't turn a 50 into a 90.

I agree there is more to it than just swapping heads. I know there is some gear ratio differences between the 50 and the 90.

Well of COURSE you need to do some other work I didn't think that you just threw it on & BAM LOL ;):)
Why don't you elaborate on this some since you just popped in w/ this comment & that was it?? :)

Converting a 50 to a 90, would require both cases, a 90 crank, 90 top end and a 90 gear box. It can be done for around $500.

I didn't mean to just pop in and throw a wrench in the conversation. I knew it took alot more than just a head, but didn't know all the details, since I don't really keep up with the 50's. The mod's listed to do the job appear to be a whole motor to me, what would be the point?

TRUE! However, if you could find a buyer for the 50 at a decent price, you might be able to get a brand new 90 for a few dollars more.

mbiigambler,

My son raced and won the NEATV championship on a kasea/LRX (same thing) 50cc. The NEATV 50cc class was full modified not ATVA rules.

If your son is a bigger kid and races ATVA 50cc rule I recommend the DRR/Artic Cat (same).

If your son is a smaller kid and races the ATVA 50cc rules I recommend the LEM.

If your son will race full modified 50cc rules then I recommend the Kasea/LRX!! I will say that our biggest challenges came from a fully modified LEM 50cc liquid!

Don't worry about dealerships IMO because once you start racing all of the parts will be aftermarket!!

Thanks for everyone’s input. I’m narrowing it down to the Kasea or the Lem. I have a Lem dealer 10 miles from my house. Only problem is, it sounds like they have a tough time getting mini quads in.

If I do a Kasea, it looks like I’ll be having it shipped to me so any advice on where to get the best price on the Skyhawk. I’ve tried emailing the guy from miniatv.com but haven’t heard back from him?

Just give Hetrickracing a call. There website is www.Hetrickracing.com. Plus they have all the stuff for the Kasea. If you do choose the Kasea. But only 1 person suggested the DRR or Arctic Cat. My son races the AC in 70 form. This has been a very fast and very tuff quad for us.
