i am having problems putting the sprocket spindle onto my new OEM axle. i realize that i need to bash it on so i can get the 'C' clip in place, but i have tried the bashing, and the bashing isn't working. do i need to remove the sprocket from the spindle? i can't see how that would make a difference, but right now any hints will help.

thanks

I think you're talking about the sprocket hub........

Take it to a machine shop and have it pressed on. Shouldn't cost much.

Aluminum doesn't do well with bashing:ermm:

Consider it a lesson learned ;)

You now have the perfect tool for getting the next one on. Put the good one on first then put then one on. Then get a heavy piece of pipe about 3-4' long that just fits over the axle. Slam the piece of pipe down on the old sprocket carrier.

The trick is to hitting all side at once on the inner portion. Grease it up first too.
