Hey I have an 87 250x with a 350x atc engine in it. I want more power and speed so ive been looking at engine components like the wiseco high compression pistons and also the dial-a-jets kits. Will these upgrades give me that power I want? For speed would I change the front or rear sprocket? Also is there a way to make my engine an electric start? I always see starter motors on ebay and stuff for 400ex's so I figured maybe it was possible to do it. Thanx for any info.

the piston would give you a noticeable gain the sprocket change the front one and yes you can make it electric start i have seen in the dirtwheels mag kits that make 350xs electric start

Im just wondering but is my quad raceable. Would it be able to keep up with other quads? What class would it be in? Im just a kid and my parents probably wouldtn want to sponsor me so i dont think i could afford to race anyway. But im curious.

i have a 350x motor being built to go in my 250x frame
i have a wiseco 12:1 compression piston web cam not sure what grind is i forget but its the one right below the full race also ported and polished and a 400 carb is gonan go on it and the electric starter kits are made by goki

web cams website i got mine from the local quad shop i forgot i also have new valves and new heavyduty springs

buy a 450 if u want a more power

you canget a cam from www.webcamshafts.com or i bought my web all around from www.magicracing.com it is cheaper from magic but you need heavy springs and hardened rockers. you could keep up with 400s and wear i race you would be in 101-350 just depends on where you race.

The reason i dont buy a 450 or any other high end quad is because im only 15 and my parents unlike alot of racing kids parents wont just buy me a quad. I bought this quad for 1500 with my own money. Its my first quad by the way. So I figured id make the best of it and set it up for racing the best i can. I ordered a shock mount relocator so i could put 400ex shocks in it too and i have stock 400ex shocks on the way. Thanx for the info everyone.

What do u guys think about those shock mount relocators? i didnt see any other way to fit larger travel shocks into my 250x frame. Is there another way? Thanks

heres mine on my 250x. i race in the youth production class.
i got 400ex a arms. Not sure y u would get the shock relocator if ur going to run stock shocks on it. wont help any

dont thnk so im not sure. But u should get aftermarket shocks got running stock ones aint goin to do anything

Your saying the 400ex shocks wont give me more travel and a better ride? And are 400ex a-armsworth it or not?

ya u will need the relocator. im saying y run stock shocks get some works thts what i run for now but im getting pep. Do u plan on racing it?

Well right now im tight on cash and one of my stock shocks snapped so i decided to do this. Im not sure about racing right now becuase i want to get a job first. If i do decide to race ill definately be buying aftermarket shocks and selling the stock ones.

I was looking at new pistons and in some of the desciptions it said .020 as apossed to standard. Some of them also said .040. Whats the difference and how does it affect the quad?

If you build the 350x motor you will beat alot of quads. I use to race flattrack and darran naccarato the owner of nacs (rip) use to run a 250x frame with 350x motor and that things was real fast. I would run with built 250r's and banshee without a problem. Build the motor, high compression piston,exhaust,cam and you will be smoking by everybody except me haha.

aint that the truth. i can take a stock or mildly wurked 450r with mine. its a great motor to build up but wen u get a hi comp piston or a cam it gets very hard to kick over.
