wiring after market lights

could anyone help me threw step by step and tell me how to wire aftermarket lights on a quad and no drain the battery when off and also how to hook up a switch

when i mounted a kc light onto my 300ex i just took plain old electricle wire, hooked one end to the light, and i slipt the hookup that used to go into the 300ex light, and just put the other end of the wire to the slipt part and put elc. tape over it.
it worked when i turn on the on/off switch and doesnt drain the battierie.

just hook the positive wire into the red wire going to your on/off switch and to your lights, then bolt another wire to the frame somwhere and a ground
