My buddy talked me into giong to Zinc city this place were it is a 1/8th mile pavement drag strip. He told me that i would do pretty good but i dont know. I will be running in the 250-500CC fourstroke class with my 450R. How do you think i will stand up against modded 500 predators and such. I am afraid of wheeling because my quad likes to do that on the mx track i dont know how it will do on pavement

I will have stock gearing with 22" rear bald tires and stock 450R fronts.

My quad is setup for MX with +3 axle, LT front elkas and long travel extended a-arms, elka rear shock with stock swinger. i wont have a lowering kit or anything like that. my motor is ported/polished, hmf fullsystem, filter, 12:1 piston, HRC cam.

Your set-up sounds great for what your doing. Its gonna be hard to start off in 2nd with 22's so just get on it, even your weight out on the start, and power shift that mofo. Make sure you have clean oil and air filter when you go. Also, check your front end over and make sure your toe and camber are dead even. This makes for a much more enjoyable and less tire friction drag. Oh yea, and lube your chain too. ;)

at the start, get as much of your body on the front of that thing as possible, or as much as you feel comfortable.

its a rush! and like everyone has said lean forward off the start. all i do is asphalt drag so i run struts all the way around. you should be pretty quick with motor work because i am bone stock and went 8.61 @ 73.00 mph.

did you run that with the 14t or the 13t, cause i ran a 8.98 at72, and i was hittin the rev limiter just before the line with the 14t

Actually I ran that time with the 14t. With the 13t I was all over the rev limiter about 25 ft from the line.

man those times are pretty dam fast, how fast do you think a 500ex could do???

Did anyone ever try the 1/4?

i dont know how a 500ex would do but my buddy has a 416ex with a full drag port, sparx x6 shorty, open air filter, and has a pwk carb on alcohol with a +6 arm and his best time was 8.59 @ 75. man i love ridin that thing. it sounds like a hellicopter.

the only time i ever ran the 1/4 was by mistake. they forgot to switch the computers over to 1/8 after the motorcycles. i had no idea so when i crossed the line i let off but noticed no time showed up so then got back on it and ran 15 somethin.

if people in your neck on the woods have cars on the strip that run 15s they need to go home and get off the track.

a 450r will not run the 1/4 because it tops out in the 1/8. once you are toped out there is no sence in it.

my truck is faster than my 450r in the 1/8

i agree about the slower than 15 second cars not going to the track, cuz where i race that would knock out half of the cars and in turn we would get to race a few more times. as it is now we have to wait about an hour between passes and that SUCKS!

well for the 15 sec I was talking about imports, not V8's

what kind of truck do you have and what do you have under the hood that makes it faster then your 450 in the 1/8???

I don't think alot of cars that are street legal would beat a quad in the 1/8, maybe stuff over 500-600hp but there are not to many of those

i ran a 7.30 1/8 mile in a steet legal mustang with drag radials a 306 cu/in with mild cam and cobra fuel injection. the quads (mostly banshee's) at our track are running like 98 to 100 mph but I am not shure about the times I didnt realy watch that close. one day I will put my 450 on the strip but for noww I will go in circles

there are 3 bad @$$ shee's at the track i race at and all 3 are on rigid drag frames and run 6.7's at anywhere from 90 to 97 mph. THAT'S ROLLIN! i am by no means the quickest bike out there. not to give yammie credit but there is one of those out there with swinger, cam mod, curtis pipe, filter, jetted, and ported, running 7.80's

400hp with exaust manifolds? might be 450 with headers

Alright well the races are over, and i raced against a YFZ -4- 400exs, a kfx400

I came in second i whooped everybody off the start and held about 6-7 quad lengths ahead even the yfz. The last race to see who got first was between me and a worked 400ex and i got a red light because i slipped the clutch a little but i could have taken him down the stretch it just was rider error.

The quad was fantastic i ran stock kfx tires that were burned to nothing and i just lowered my front end and it never even tried to lift. I am not sure my times but i will know tomarrow it will be posted on the site.
