smoke

I just installed a 416 kit and cam . I noticed it smokes when you start it up. it does not smoke once its warm. Any thoughts.

If doesn't smell like oil being burnt it is prolly just carbon burn.

i am going to guess you installed a wisco piston.
the top ring on wisco pistons are looseand allows a little bit of oil to pass through while sitting. that is not a problem.

Actually i installed a JE piston. My valves are alittle loose. Ineed to adjust. Another thing that it seems to float before the rev limiter kicks in.

Then it sound like your valves are not sealing tight did you have them messed with at all. What year quad is it? may need new valve seals.

the quad is a 2001. It has hardly been ridden since we had a new member to our family in december. I really dont see how they would be bad, unless they can dry up like a car will.
