My 05 TlD predator has been acting funny. It will act like it is running out of gas(full tank of 110 octane) or sometimes it won't rev like it should. This is about the 10th tank of gas and I will drain it hoping it is junk in the gas. Does anyone know of any fuel pump or carb problems that have been poping up with the 05. Thanks Josh

Are you serious about running 110 octane. You should not be running that high of octane in a four stroke engine. If anything the highest should be 91. Do you have a rocket attached or something. The high octane will cause it to run very rich and probably bog or stall. I've seen this in many Mag articles as well as this months Moto Cross action Magazine in the tech section page 164. It states four strokes actually don't like high octane and will lose horsepower

Why are you running 110 octane? It will do nothing unless your running a high compression piston and it will run richer. Drain the gas and put some 93 octane in there and I am sure it will run fine!

It doesn't do any mechanical damage, it just robs you of alot of power. All motors run at their best just before it starts pinging/detonation. If a motor is setup to run on say 87 octane and your running 110 your only going to LOSE horsepower.

You only need race gas when your running a high compression motor.

Check and see if the sparkplug wire is rubbing the frame..my 03 did that and it would act like it was cuttingout..i found a small cut int he wire...i taped it up and it was good until i sold it.

Well it was the high octane gas. I dumped the tank and drained the carb bowl, refilled with 90 and now it runs great again. I was buying the 110 octane to mix with the crap 86 that I can buy in this little town in Missouri that we moved to. I forgot that the can had 3 gallons of just 110, then went on a trip riding with only the one can. Not on purpose. Thanks again Josh

I really dont know what you are talking about with the 110. I have ran 110 in all my quads since my YFZ started to overheat. I put 110 in the YFZ and it ran like a champ. I then got a 400ex ran 110 it ran great, now I have my 450R and run 110 in it and it runs great. I have raced and just trail rode all of the above quads and none of them lost any power. In fact the 04 YFZ's call for at least 95 or 105 octane. Scramblerracer we are close to each other do you have any land up there in ashland? Later, Josh

Josh W. I race MHSC stock class(with Casey). I don't have any land as I live in town but I go to finger lakes quite a bit. I am the fat guy on the orange TLD predator, orange riding gear. See ya at the race over by Warsaw. Josh L. MHSC 327
