I AM LOOKING FOR NEW SUSPENSION FOR MY 04 400EX. I JUST PUT A POWER CORE 4 EXHAUST WITH UNI FILTER AND TOOK IT TO OUT TO OUR LOCAL TRACK. (SUGAR CREEK) ABOUT THE 10TH LAP I TOOK A JUMP A LOT FASTER THAN NORMAL AND LANDED MORE ON THE BACK WHEEL THAN NORMAL. THE REAR SHOCK BOTTOMED OUT THEN THE FRONT BOTTOMED OUT, THEN I BROKE THE L2 VERT IN MY BACK. OUCH. I DID NOT FALL OFF BUT I HUNCHED OVER THE HANDLE BARS AND LIMPED BACK TO WHERE MY WIFE WAS WATCHING. SHE THOUGHT I WAS KIDDING AND TOLD ME TO SUCK IT UP AND RUB SOME DIRT ON IT. TWO HOURS LATER SHE KNEW I WAS SERIOUS. NOW I CAN'T RIDE FOR 10 WEEKS AND EVERYBODY IS TELLING ME I NEED TO SELL IT. I THINK THEY ARE CRAZY. I AM A FORMER ARMY RANGER AND I AM NOT JUST GONNA GIVE UP BECAUSE OF A LITTLE BROKEN BACK, I JUST NEED BETTER SHOCKS. I AM 6'2 210 LBS. ANY SUSPENSION OPINIONS?

http://www.swamprot.net/albums/emoticons/flag.gif Thank You for serving our country.

Suspension is all about how much you want to spend. For just under $1000 you can get Elka triple rate fronts and an elka conversion for the rear. I bought my fronts used for $550 and the rear was rebuilt for under $350 with a sponsorship.;) Personally I'd skip the works, the weren't worth the money to me. The rear has a wide range of adjustability and is a good unit. Focus on some front shocks first and then move to the rear.
Elka TCS PEP or AXIS you can order them specifically to what you want. Check with C&D Racing or the Quadshop and they'll get you some prices.

Any of the brands will be worlds better than stock. Elka has the best products going right now but if they are out of your price range then Works are in order for ya.

By the looks of that pic you have them set at the lowest the ride height can go. Don't forget there are set screw that need to be loosened before turning the collar, which can be done with anything that fits pretty tight in the holes. In other words you can bring your ride height up a ton.
