what is gutted out?
I took out the stock spark arrestor but there was no need to rejet it.

Yes i understand that and i have done the same. i took everything out of the pipe.... there are 3 chambers inside that i have taken out. about 4 lbs of the 3 chambers. cuz i cut an end of the pipe and cut the the inside out.

182 is quite large for a stock pipe and just air box mods!!!:eek2: I wouldn't think you would even need that now. Why would you even bother wasting your time gutting the stock pipe. The only quad I ever rode with a gutted pipe was a DS650 and it ran like total CRAP!!! Should of left it alone until you can afford an aftermarket one. Also your quad is going to sound STUPID now.

I would start with a 185 main and go down if needed. I'm running a 180 with a modded airbox lid and no spark arrestor.

400ex... first off i dont have an air box. its open air filter. i gutted out the pipe for my reasons only. yea its loud but i only ride at one place where loudness doesnt matter. the pipe sounds pretty good with one chamber still in. sounds like its yoshi piped. it doesnt backfire, or any other popping noises. power wise i good on the take off top end is still the same.
