Needed Maintenance

I recently purchased a 96 300ex and before I take it out I wanted to be sure it is in good shape and ready to ride. Problem is that I don't really know what to lube, tighten, or otherwise adjust. What should I look for?

Check and clean the airfilter, change oil, make sure all bolts are tight, adjust valves, make sure everything is greased, and there is no slop in the pivot points. Get the tire pressures to normal, etc. This should be a start.

im not too familiar with the 300ex, but you may want to put it up on a stand and feel for play in the wheels. if there is play, tighten up the castle nuts. check the brakes, i would rather pay for new pads instead of pads and rotors. you should have a bunch of grease points on the swingarm and a arms you can get with an grease gun. i like to clean the electrical connections occasionally, check light bulbs, oil, lube the cables, torque bolts down, etc.
