View Full Version : substitute negative wire with?

I just found that my negative wire ripped off my battery,can i go to walmart and get some of that 20 gauge or 18 or w/e it is in place of the negative wire?

happend to me too. i just rigged it back up.

i cant because then the wire will be to short,i have a aluminum airbox and i had to mount it somewhere else

Mine eventually snapped off also. I have a CFM airbox and ended up running the cable from the battery to the mounting bolts for my rear grab bar. Total length is about 4".

need bigger than 20 or 18 gauge. I would say 8 or maybe 10

18 will melt like butter. 12 or 14 is even pushing it. I use 6 gauge from home depot on my trike. It holds up well.

Just replaced mine with 6 Guage this past weekend.

I made a new ground out of some 8 guage car stereo wire I had laying around. Its held up for about 3 years now.

That would be my advice. It will probably run around $2 a foot (last time I checked). Car stereo wire is usually oxygen free, so it will be less likely to corrode.
