I'm not sure how insurance works down in the states.. but here in ontario (I'm an insurance broker for the time being), it can get pretty insane.. the fact that you're under 21 sucks, if have training courses (and if you took one) might be a factor.. up here we take into consideration the # of cc, tickets, purchase price....and a few other things.

I've seen some quotes that were over $7000.00 CAN a year!! :eek2:

Good luck with that.. crotch rockets are amazing!!

I'm 24 and have an 02 gsxr 750. The insurance is like 260 a year for liability. If you are going to get one that is your best bet, to get liability. Otherwise it would be like 2500 a year for me to have full coverage. I have several tickets, and some other stuff on my record too. I can get any bike for about the same liability. Check with Nationwide and progressive, I have found them to have the best rates.
More than likely if you are wanting one under 2k, you are going to have to get a wrescked one or one that is atleast a 99 model or older, unless you get a smaller bike. I would stay with a 600 or smaller though for your first bike. That's what I started on and wouldn't mind going back to it!! They are light, fun and easy to corner.

The Kawi 636 is a bad ***** bike. It can run with the big dogs no problem, but is still light and fun.
