I have a 426ex with a hot cam stage 2 cam and a full HMF system running the air box lid on. will a 41mm carb improve my bike any or should i get a 39mm carb or are they the same. i found a cheap 41mm FCR for sale from a friend of mine but didnt want to buy it unless it is going to do some good. should i have to rejet it or just stick it on and go? thanks

I have a similar setup as you with my 440, a full HMF, stage 2 hotcam, and more, but I run the FCR 39mm. It seems to be more popular and well liked, especially for mx. I've also heard that the 41 is more of a drag carb for the 400ex or more for the really big bore and stroker 400s. I love the 39 though it is awesome!

ill just have to start saving i can get a brand new one from work for $450 i think retail is over $700. nice discount but still not cheap. just wanted one before i go to silver lake sand dune on the 26th-29th of may but it will be all good. i did have another ? ill put it here and post another one.

When my bike stalls or when i first start it up sometimes.(more when its hot then when its not) it makes a clunking noise while it trys to start. sometimes it dont even want to start. it kinda sound like the piston is stuck or something. I dont seem to be loosing any power or anything but it dont sound right either. I have a JE piston i was told that was better then Wiseco dunno. and a hot cam stage 2. it is kinda hard to determine the problem without seeing it but thought i would post the issue. thanks

Like previously stated, you most likely won't find one for under $200.00 at least one that works for that price. You may just want to post in the wanted column or like you said if you are just going to save for a brand new one, I'd check with C&D Racing. That's where I got mine and they give you a great deal, price is less that $450.00 and they will pre-jet it according to your specs. :D
