On ebay there is a guy selling springs that are for the carb and I dont know if they are any good or not buy they are only 20 bucks. Might be worth the try.

If not do the spring mod.....

try a twist trottle. it takes a couple rides to get used to it, but once you do you'll never go back.

If your capable of taking your carburetor apart. Cut 1-1/2 windings of the spring off and bend the hook back on the spring. The hook will be counter clock wise about 120 degrees from original position. The resistance in the throttle will be gone.

i would not cut the spring when all you need to do is move the positionhttp://nzjensen.co.nz/images/carbspring.jpg

That is the way to go right there, do that mod in the pic, wire the TPS wires together and slap on a 400EX throttle !! you will find new life in your thumb, especially if you have been using the stock YFZ set up.:D

Take the top off your thumb throttle remove the spring, you dont need it. Send your carb to Baldwin and for 35.00 he will do your spring. Mine is as easy as my 250r's straight pull. You will be happy with it !!!!

I have a $20 moose throttle lever extender on my 400EX throttle lever. Works great. Messin with the throttle return spring could lead to disatourous results if you dont know what your doing.

I did this yesterday, but instead of cuttng a groove in the second tab I drilled a small hole in it and installed the spring thru that. It was a little difficult to get the spring thru it but once I did it worked great and I don't have to worry about it comming loose.
