I've seen several topics that have this mentioned in it and im very interested in trying it myself, but was wondering if anyone had fully converted and if there were pictures out there?

Now strangely I've seen 2 drastically different stand points on this that 1) its an easy conversion with some bushing modifications , and 2) that its not a recommended practice as it will change the geometry of the suspension and reek havoc on your quad.

Any thoughts ideas or suggestion are welcome , Please weigh in.

THANKS

stroke, valving and spring rates need to be changed to work correctly.

friend of mine stuck yfz450 shocks on his raptor, made a lil bit of a difference, but parts bein so expensive these days, we were sayin itd a been been of him to just go aftermarket with shocks, there alotta money but they are definatly worth, cause ur still buyin some stock shocks, they just have res'is on it. Works suspension is good and fairly cheap, im just givin ya some advice, hope it helps ya

it is not rocket science. ALL atv shocks are over priced, plain and simple.. my 2 cents take it or leave it

Most people who have done it say that it was a big improvement which isn't that hard to unerstand if you look at the two shocks side by side. I contemplated buying them myself, but opted to get the recreational elkas as they were built for ME and MY quad.

i did this mod last year in late feb. they are so much better than stock. i have had no problems what so ever. if you have an extra set, i say go for it, but you would be better off with a set of shocks setup for you and your machine. i am fixing to get mine rebuilt. i am sure they will be even better. have fun and ride safe

C&D redid our 450R shocks, and if they will bolt onto a 400ex id say getting a set and having them valved and sprung for the 400 and your weight will be a very cost effective swap.

I get reminded every weekend about how much money I spent on shocks while the rebuilds cost but a fraction of aftermarket. If your on a budget, look into this.

don't waste the time and money, buy something made for a 400

If you can get a set for $250 or less it might be a worthwhile upgrade. Add the cost of revalving/rebuilding and you will have a good set of shots for $400~$550.

I had 450R shocks on my 250R but I never got to ride on them before upgrading to Elka SSD's. The shocks felt good but they made the front end kind of high. I think Z-man is the person who bought off of me for $250. You will need to grind a flat spot on the top of the shock to make it fit on a 400EX.
