You're gonna get a lot of guys saying Mobil 1, but I like Amsoil 0w-40. I ran it since last summer (trail/woods/field riding..500+ miles) and the oil still looks clean...thats enough proof for me! I use Amsoil products in my sled, car and truck too.

I used to run the regular GN4 20w50 but have switched exclusively to synthetics now. I alternate between the Amsoil full synthetic 20w50 (wet clutch safe), and the Klotz full synthetic, whatever I can get easier... Keep in mind that if you decide to run synthetic, you really cant switch back to regular oil... If you dont race or have a highly modded engine, the regular honda GN4 should be fine for you...

Going to run Rotella-T 5w40 synthetic this season. It's meant for heavy duty diesel and gasoline engines. Supposed to be really good stuff and contains no moly so it's completely safe for wet clutches. You can check the specs on it here: http://www.rotella.com/products/rotella_t_synthetic.html

I just got done going through the oil thing. I went with the Rotella T synthetic 5w-40. Its great stuff.

NEVER use mobil 1 in the EX unless you have heavy duty springs and stuff for the clutch. ALL of their oil(even the motorcycle oil) has moly in it.

Go to that site and find the forum. Look at the VOA for any oil you are interested in. You will learn a ton!

I believe that Hinson 10w40 is just the same as any other conventional oil you would find. Hinson doesn't manufacture oil, they just put their sticker on the bottle and sell it as their own.

It's ok to go back to regular oil after running synthetic; just don't be switching back and forth all the time.

I would seriously consider running the Rotella-T 5w40 synthetic. It's light years better than any conventional oil because it has a much higher film strength. Lasts much longer too as it was designed for the abuse that heavy duty diesel engines incur. On their site, they even recommend it for 4 stroke motorcycles because it contains no moly - moly is what is harmful to the clutch. Best part of all is you can find it at Walmart for about $13 a gallon. That's a pretty good value to me..:o

Yes you can go back to a regular petrolium oil after running synthetic, but why would you want to? I will never use regular oil again.

I think some people think that its synthetic oil thats bad for the clutch. That has nothing to do with it. Its the moly. You would be surprised by the regular oils that have moly and the amounts of moly that they use. I always though pennzoil was a basic oil with nothing added to it. Wrong...it has molly. Mobil 1 also puts moly in all of their oil even the motorcycle oil that is not supposed to have it.

Like I said in my previous post. Go to that link I gave and go to the forums VOA section. VOA stands for Virgin Oil Analysis. Those guys take unused oil and send it in to labs to find out what they have in them. If you go through there you will see that NONE of Rotellas products contain moly and that most other brands do have moly in them. I will never use an oil that I dont see a VOA for now. Thats why I am running the Rotella T synthetic now. They have VOA's for "motorcycle only" oil and some of them have moly in them. I dont trust the oil companies anymore. I want to see exactly what they put in the oil before I will use it. I dont care if it says its for a specific brand or specific bike. I will have to see a VOA before I drop some coin for it.

Did you read my reply to you? :huh Scroll up about 4 posts
I said you can find it at Walmart for about $13-14 a gallon depending on the store. If they don't have it, ask someone and they will be able to order it for you. Rotella is a Shell product; look for the dark blue jug that says Rotella-T synthetic 5w40 :)

I have run Mobil1 red cap 15 50 for the last two years with no slippage or issues. I bought 5 cases when I heard they changed it, to get the original oil I had been running successfully so long. Will use nothing else until there is no option. just my 2 cents

AMSOIL. is what i run in my TRX450R. 10w-40 high performance motorcycle oil. your bike will run cooler and make more power with less friction. proven fact that AMSOIL is the best on the market, only can be found at AMSOIL dealers. or go on the AMSOIL web site and become a VIP customer and get the oil at dealer prices.

also there is 0w-40 ATV oil thats good for all year round.
also less oil changes because the oil doesnt break down, I change mine every 6 mounths.

Colby and Dusty from C&D sell Amsoil. One reason you would want to use non synthetic after using a synthetic is after a rebuild to seat your new rings! This is even on the Amsoil website.

Disreguard what I said about engine break in. I guess Amsoils web site says you can use it for break no problems.
