Sorry, but I laughed when I read that. I just think you need to kick it a bit harder, thats all:p

For me anyway, it is very difficult to get it into neutral from 2nd; however, its a piece of cake to do it from 1st.

It's used to be impossible for me.

I figured out an easy trick that works for me.
Say you stop in second gear, you pull clutch in, get it into first, but when you shift up to go to neutral, it just goes straight to second. In first gear, try slowly letting out the clutch just until you feel it grab and want to move forward. Then pull it back in and try to get into neutral. It should go right in and/or a lot easier and faster.

my '99 ex has the same problem, i like it. when going from first to second i only have to kick up once, it is a lot smoother and faster. when i stop i just hold the clutch in because its hard to find neutal unless you turn it off.

my brothers '00 400ex does the same thing, it wont go into nuetral from 1st, but will from in second, until it is warmed up, then it will go into nuetral from 1st, and he just got a new clutch cabel and changed the oil. When its not warmed up though, he cant get into nuetral from 1st unless he turns it off, then it pops right in, its pretty wierd.

yea i know of several people that have that problem with the neutral, and it is usually fixed by adjusting the clutch

yesterday i went to put it in neutral and the light wouldnt show, but then i looked down and i had pinched the nuetral wire between the case and the front sprocket guard. just yanked it out of there and she came on.

don't change your oil, that won't do anything

You need a new clutch

or adjust it like that other guy said

That's the whole Idea, therefore neuteral is a ***** to find;), I reach down to find it with my hand sometimes. You can feel it pop right in that way. If I am in tennis shoes I can pop it right in too, It's just in riding boots It's gets a little tricky once in a while.

I'd give it a while. That's pretty low miles. The first thing I'd do on a new machine is change the oil either way. I'd also check for slack in the cable.

on mine it switches easy if the quad is rolling allittle. like if i want to put it in neutral i will switch it while it is still rolling. If i try to stop then switch it into neutral it does not work so good
