all stock 400ex have that problem, wd40 does not work and if it did it would only work for a little bit.

Negative sir.. i have a box stock suspension on my 01 400, and it doesnt squeek, its silky smooth.. Why you ask? its called PROPER MAINTENANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you drive your car, and you never change the oil, grease the joints, or do regular maintenance, then its gonna have issues..

Same with your 4 wheeler, if you ride it and ride it and ride it and you dont ever do any type of maintenance, then your gonna have squeeks, squeels, and things are going to wear out faster..

So do yourself a favor and dont post back on this thread with somthing like "i do maintain my wheeler" because if you did, your bike wouldnt squeek..

Within the next week or so, i am going to write up a article on how to properly maintain a 4 wheeler.

I had to take mine apart the day after I got it (new). there was no grease in the shock bushings. I mean none, it was DRY  you would think Honda could spare a little grease. But I agree with Dirt Merchant. a little maintance and things like this are not a problem. ;)

^^^yep. and also. wd40 should never be used as a lubricant. alls it does is wash away any grease that might still be in there, and then itll wear out even faster.

just heat them up with a torch

Take the shocks off and remove the shock bushings. Grease them with a marine base grease to protect from water. That will fix the problem. I had to do it to mine a month after I got it and haven't done it since. They are dry from the factory and the first little bit of water starts rust and then comes the squeaking.

i grease the bottom bushing in my front shocks constantly, but never take the top one out. i tried by just pushing with my finger like the bottom but it didnt move. should i rig up a press and get it out or is it a big deal? no squeeks here.

The top shock mount is rubber so it needs no grease. ;)
