I have a 440ex and just rebuilt the top end... has about 2 XC races on it and now it has some oil seeping out between the cylinder and head right where the gasket is...and just on the left side. My question is, is this a stripped stud or blown gasket? The gasket is one of those metalic fiber ones with metal ring NOT the metal layered ones.

anything over about 11.1 compression ,no matter what kind ig gasket the stud on the exhaust side will stretch and cause the gasket to burn and will warp the head if not fixed i put heavy duty studs in my because my done it and i talked to curtis sparks and he told me the facts so for whats it worth maybe $15.00 for the stud instead if a head hope i could help:)

yeah im thinking its that cheap gasket too...i had a metal layered one when i first put the 440 kit on and i ran that about 4 races last year and never pulled a stud. then i rebuilt it with that cheap fiber gasket and after 2 races its leaking. Just ordered a layerd one:D
