I bought a sprocket hub off of ebay that was for a 2000 300ex and I wanted to put it on my 02 300ex. But when I try to put it on I find out that the teeth aren't the same for both years. Is this right? I thought all 250x/300exs are mostly the same with that kind of stuff?

It probably is for a 300. Most likley has +- 2 teeth. More teeth for more top end speed, less for more acceleration.

A lot of people go with a larger rear or smaller front for more acceleration.

Oops sorry, I meant splines in the sprocket HUB, not teeth on the sprocket, my mistake.

All 300EX's have the same spline count on the axle. Unless either is an aftermarket unit. If in which case, you could just be screwed. Not all aftermarket sprocket hubs will fit on stock or other brand axles. And not all axles can use any sprocket hub. If you can, try to post a picture of the hub, that'll be better for getting some help.
