Does anybody elses yfz feel like a 2 stroke? What I mean is that you have to get it around the upper part of the rpm limit (or the powerband on a 2 stroke) I would probaly say 5k or more to get power out of it?

I have both 2005 400ex and a yfz450, the 400ex has a lot more bottom end power than the yfz, but you get the yfz around 7000 **** it is gone

anybody else have any other input, that has one?

I have never ridden a factory YFZ but from what I get fom my friend putting a pipe on them adds alot of low end, Mine pulls like a 400 on steroids on the bottom and a raped ape on top :D but thats with a full pipe

The yfz has a vey high rev limit for a stock bike. This is where alot of its power is made so its not a great trail bike but a great motorcrosser. The 450r pulls pretty good down low but it is an animal from midrange up. I have had many 250r and quadracer's 250's and 500's. All I can say is the 450's are right are par with the two strokes.

the YFZ is very much like a 2-stroke powerband in that you have to rev high to feel the power which is good, but at the same time when you wear out in a race its pretty harsh.

you think the yfz450 has a 2 stoke power band, go ride a yz or cr 205f, there stock revlimiter is at 13500 rpm

I never said it has a 2 stroke powerband I just said the way the power comes on is similar to a 2 stroke, its like a 4 stroke, 2 stroke if that makes any sense.

Have you even ridden a YFZ? A YFZ is a great trail bike, you just have to know how to ride it. I can go faster through the trails on my stock YFZ than an HRC 450R, it just doesn't have that quick revving hard-hitting power as the YFZ does.

The YFZ has plenty of power down low, just not as much as the 450R, which doesn't have that much either compared to my 400ex.

No a yfz does not feel like a two-stroke.

The powerband on a yfz may be similar to a two-stroke powerband in that the most power is made in the higher rpm's but that is where the similarities stop.

I was thinking of selling my 250R and getting an YFZ, but I think I will keep my 250R.

Or even better, ride a highly modified Banshee...that will scare the sh*t out of you!

i hope it does have more top end power, cuz when Im racing woods, I am almost always in the upper rpm range--I think its a common misconception that woods racers need mainly bottom end-simply not true.

i think the power is nearly identical to my kx, not much difference. just like a 2stroke
