i was told to ride my engine good, but not baby it
My question is,after 3 cycles of about 30-45 min rides, and letting the motor fully cool between cycles,i changed the oil
Then on sunday i rode nice and good for about a hour, went through all gears nothing crazy
just my question is,how much longer should i go easy on the engine?i want to see its full potential without hurting it

i'd say u are ready to go for it !!everyone has a different veiw of the break in process but eveything in u'r engine should be setted properly by now. :D

3 tanks of gas, let the rings on the piston set and everything break in properly

2 tanks of gas will do it. Mine ran like crap until I started to go on it hard. I would blow blue smoke everywhere when I started it, even when I was done with 2 tanks of goin easy. Then I started to rip on it hard, the performance seemed to pick up a good bit, and it stopped smoking almost immediately after i started riding hard. The motor just kept getting stronger.

my buddy, this is no joke, he built his 440 and his break in was put about a half a quart of motor oil in the gas tank and give her hell ! no joke and that thing runs sweet as can be still today! i was always told to take it easy do this do that but i witnessed that first hand so its really what u like. GOOD LUCK RIDE ON!!

lol i think i will stay away from the oil,i already did the major break in,i think imma just do a couple more of those heat cycles or w/e you want to call them, and imma rip into her a bit

300exrida,,, look at that mototune article... it explains why heat cycles are not necessary,,,,, that whole website is all convincing

I usually break my in like this.

1. Unload the quad at the race track. Start it up and go to the practice ride. (usually four laps on your local mx track)

2. Beat the hell out of it during your motos and she is good to go. Never had a problem doing it this way, and this is all on one tank of gas not even.:D

I break it in like its going to be riden, just dont hold it WFO for more than 2-3 seconds. Mine gets stronger each time i ride it, I beat a prelude today!:D
