iam in the market for new shocks and i am kinda deciding between these two.......i want the lower riding height and that is why i didn't include works.............is lower ride height OVERRATED???...............if i decide to get new suspension is it smart to go ahead and buy new a arms at the same time??

any of you that have pep or elka, plz share how you feel about them.........thx!

i have pep zps shocks on my 400ex and R and i would never use anything else. i think they work great. i do not think the low ride height is over rated i think it helps out alot, think about would you rather take a high speed turn in a vette or a jeep?why?not because of speed because of how low and wide the car is.
also i would defenitley get the shocks and a arms at the same time. the only bad thing about pep's is the wait to get them, but its well worth the wait.

he one pic of me jumping with my zps's but check out my photo page all the jumps of me were done on pep's.

I would get the PEP`s. I was going to get Elka`s but I am going with PEP`s now. What kind of Terrian do you Ride, MX or XC? If you Ride in the Woods you don`t need A-Arms, but if you are going to MX I would Call Baldwin and get that Set of +2 Laeger A-Arms he has in Stock. You can also get the Shocks and Axle from him. Go back and look for the Post "pep shocks......." by 400ex21. I posted a lot of Info in there. That will help you make a choice. Let me know if you can`t Find it.

Moocazen the Problem would be they wouldn`t be Setup for his Riding Conditions. More then likely he would have to get them Revalved.

WARRIORMAN HAVE YOU READ WHAT MINE COME WITH, EXACTLY YOU HAVENT, MINE CAME WITH 2 SETS OF SPRINGSONE FOR MX AND THE OTHER FOR XC, AS FOR WEIGHT I DONT KNOW ABT THAT, BUT THAN AGAIN IF WE WERE ALL RICH LIKE YOU WE WOULD JUST GO WITH NEW STUFF, IT SEEMS FUNNY THAT ALL YOU GUYS CMOPLAIN THAT THERE ARE NO GOOD DEALS, THAT EVERYONE SELLS STUFF HIGH, I PERSONALLY THINK THAT I WOULD HAVE THE BEST PRICES, ESPECIALLY SINCE ALL MY STUFF IS ALMOST NEW, ASK SHOOPE1 OR RED ROOSTER, THE REASON I SAY THIS, IS CAUSE I WOULD NOT WANT TO WAIT 3-4 MNTHS WAIT ON SOME SHOCKS, BUT HEY THATS MY OPINION, BUT JUST WAIT AND SEE HOW ALOT OF THE PROS START SWITCHING MORE AND MORE TO AXIS, ITS ALREADY HAPPENNING

Well Moocazen your Shocks do sound like a Good Deal. Don`t go Nuts because I was saying they might need to be Revalved. Trust me I`m not Rich. I won`t be able to afford the Shocks until this Fall at the Earliest. If I was Rich I wouldn`t be Riding a 400, it would be a 450F. I was just saying they may need Revalved. I hope you Sell them.

Dave400ex

Baldwin has the Red Color. That`s the only Color Laeger makes them in. You will have to Special Order other Colors. I wouldn`t Call these A-Arms Cheap. Go to www.baldwinmotorsports.com and check out Laeger and PEP.

I personally love my Elkas. You could not pay me to take them off for Axis or PEPs. Both are good shocks, but i love the response I get from the Elkas. Elka is one of the best shock out there and being new they made some mistakes, but so did Axis and PEP when they first came out. Give Elka a year or so, they will be one of the biggest shock companies on the market. Thay have already expanded their shop by more than 3 times the orgional size. they need the room for the mass amount of shocks they make. Elka dominates the snow-cross market. I wish Axis or PEP would make snow-cross shocks so we can see how they really hold up. You know that if you have ever watched a snow-cross event, those guys and machines really take a beeting.

Mark Baldwin told me the Fronts would take 10-12 Weeks and the Rear Rebuild would take 3-4 Weeks.

The Limited Mass Fronts are $750, the Rear Rebuild is $289. The ZPS Fronts are $895 and the Rear Rebuild is $425. The Fronts will take 10-12 Weeks and the Rear Rebuild will take 3-4 Weeks. The Good thing is you don`t have to Pay for the Shocks until they are Done. SO when I have around $750 Bucks I am going to Order the Front ZPS.

I got my Triple Rate Elkas a few weeks ago, but since it's been raining so much, I just got to try them today. Man I love them. Incredible difference from stock suspension. I wasn't hitting anything outrageously huge. Probably the biggest was about a 30 ft double, but it landed like a feather...I'm a pretty big guy (225lb), so I had problems bottoming out with stock suspension. I've yet to bottom these things out. I also had the rear rebuilt with the Mac Daddy Rebuild, seems to help a ton.
