hey im gonna be making a site pretty soon for my band, and im new to the whole designing/hosting thing. i can design it, thats not the problem. I'm jsut wondering what to look for in a host. For a pretty small site, how much bandwidth would i want? and can someone actually explain how the bandwidth works, im kinda confused hah. How much disk space will i need. What are subdomains and would i need them? Also, anything else I should need to know?

If it matters, theres gonna be a bunch of pictures, probably eventually close to 100, let's say, just to be safe. There will be mp3's, maybe 5 at most. Lots of text and all that. I don't want to have to switch hosts, so something that will be dependable and can easily handle all that. Also, expect to have like 250 people frequently visiting, and then however many else find it. thanks alot

youd have to take into account the minimum amount of bandwith each person whould use..then multiply that by 250..the only real way to test it out and be safe is to buy one then continually upgrade from there

anyway..just buy one small package since ull have only 250 visitors..if u need more space, upgrade..simplistic way to do it.

I still dont understand the bandwidth thing, and havent been able to find an explanation on it. could you try to explain it please?

our pictures are like 80 kb, and we'd have like a pictures page with all thumbnails which you click on. Thumbnails are like 3 kb. so about how much do you think id need

Go here (http://geocities.yahoo.com/ps/learn/CompChart_PlusPro.html)

23,000 to most visits would use about 30gigs of bandwith/month

just get about 5 gigs and ull be fine..way above 5.
