ok.....IAM PISSED......the stock studs are not long enough for the hmf headpipe...so iam forced to torque the **** outta em and the dimond shape flanges bend to crap..does ANYONE else have this problem with their HMF full system... it seems on the end of the headpipes where theres that extra tube over the pipe going into the engine, that tube is longer then the stock ones and the HMF dimond shaoe flage things are thinner then the stock ones..... my dads going to machine longer studs..thats the only option we have? what has everyone else done !??!?!

installed many an HMF system without any issues. could it be that you dont have the headpipe seated fully?

no.. you know how at the end of the pipes going into the engine the pipes have that extra tubbing over top the pipe about an inch or so long.. well that part is longer then stock. therefore making the dimond shaped flanges sit way farther out and making the studs not long enough....

ps... i also didnt have the rite gaskets.. i had some thicker ones that wernt as thin as stock, which could have also made the exhaust sit further out.. how far do your studs stick out past the nut?? i couldnt even get the stud thru the nut and the flanges were mad bending .... :huh

also can u get pics rite up by your exhaust ports where the headpipes are going in?!?

well first off, id try calling HMF and state your findings. ofcourse once they read the title of this thread they may tell you a new installation procedure that will require some vaseline:eek:

secondly, if you just went to wrenching and bending it sounds like you need to slow down a bit before trying to install anything.

third, i have installed easily 15 or so HMF systems and not once have i had an issue with fitment. so either you have a pipe that is infact defective, or you have no clue what your doing:p

in other words, chill and make a phone call. HMF will ask you some questions about the pipe, your installation and then they will help you in the best way that they can. they also have (or had) a forums section on thier website that maybe of asistance to you.

i hope my problem is just the gaskets...the stock ones seems like a softer material then the ones my dealer gave me. and the ones the dealer gave me were hella thick and i think they were making the exhaust sit out way to far..

maybe try turning around those pieces. you do have the shorter length towards the head, correct?

397, its more mechanic related then an issue with HMF. they are one of the best exhaust companies out there!

yes the exhaust seems quality but i just gotta figure out my situation... i belive longer studs and proper gaskets will fix this.. but i wonder why the studs arnt seeming long enough, its extrmly weird..

There is less stud with the HMF, but I had no problems getting mine installed.

even on my sparks pipe i don't think the stud goes but a hair out from the nut. you should be fine like that.

I don't have a full nut w/ stock head pipe. Comes up a little shy.

No my stud does not go all the way through the nut, but it stays tight. As long as it's tight there should be no problems.
