I need to know how to clean all the black crust off of my 400 piston,and i cant find in the clymer manual the torque on the crank case bolts(8mm)?I am thinking it is 18ft.lb. but I am not sure.

You don't torque the bolts just snug them, 18pds will snap them or strip the thread. Use a wire brush on the piston.

for cleaning the piston and head you can use a bed blaster but you have to make sour that all of the little beds of blass are off of it by sprying it with an air hose and then spary it with carb cleaner or an engine cleaner.(DO NOT USE A SANDBLASTER)
