im looking at buying a fairly cheap pair of ohlins front shocks with rezzies. i was wondering how everyone viewed them as. im setting up my quad this year for xc for next season, so shocks will help a bunch. they are currently setup for a 230 lb. rider and i am 170lbs. would it be a big deal if i dont have them revalved for my wieght? thanks for any help

they will be valved and sprung a little to stiff for you. I would say ride them see how you like them and adjust the comp and rebound settings if you can get them soft enough you will have to have them revalved maybe even resprung for you rider weight and then they will vavle them for you.

Ohlins are a very high quality shock. They are right up there with axis, elka and pep. Ohlins make more forks for motorcycles and shocks for motorcycles then atv stuff is the reason you dont see alot of them. They are a very good shock.

i dont mind what they look like as long as they're not beat. later down the road i would always be able to powder coat the springs to make it look really good.

i have a friend that runs compression adjustable and rebound adjustable ohlins on his cannondale, well they come stock on those but they have a good range of adjustability for the compression and soak up the bumps and jumps like you wouldnt believe.

anyone else? i probably are going to buy thme today. they are at 230 now. how much should i go up with them? they have piggy back rezzies and he just had them rebuilt, and everything. the only thing i would probably have to do to them is get them revavled. thanks for the help

With that much difference between your weight and what they were made for, dont be surprised if you have to get them resprung as well as revalved, which is more $$$... I dont think they can make up a 60 pound difference in valving alone, but maybe Im wrong...

well i will soon find out. i check already to see how much revalving costs and its like $90. im not sure though if its 90 for both or 90 each. its really only a 30 lb difference. the valving wieght i would do is 170lbs-201lbs so hopefully its not really a big deal the way they are now.

ohlins (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v721/jak8913/5f684da0.jpg)

i put them on yesterday and so farso good. when i took them out for a tester, even though they are not vavled for my weight they are way nicer than my stock shocks. The valving is only 30 lbs. off so i will probably leave everything alone for now. I tried so hard to bottom them out and they wouldnt.

Does anyone know is shock covers for the stock shocks will fit on the ohlins? im looking at gettin a set off ebay and any info would be great. thanks

I have ohline on my ex, and love them. I just think they are a bit soft when i go on the track. I do mostly trail riding , and they are night and day over the stockers.
