Red Bud - place to stay

I'm going up to the Red Bud MX Nat. (just to watch) here in a couple weeks and was wondering if anyone knows of a good place to stay over near Lake Michigan? I'm coming up from Kentucky and I've never been in that area, so I figured I might as well check out Lake Mich. since its so close. I'm just looking for a decent place to stay and something to do. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas, I'd appreciate it. Thanks
