Hey guys,

While I was checking out my brakes tonight I found out that my rear brake pads were toast! Kinda strange too since I put a brand new set on last spring. I only trail ride, no racing, what could have made these pads wear out so fast? They were Versrah pads. I'm gonna try the Dunlopads as suggested by a few guys on here this time around. The brake rotor has some light grooves in it as well, will it be ok to continue using it that way or should I replace it? If I need to replace it, what's a good one to put on?

Here is what the rotor looks like:

Either you ride with your foot on the brake pedal and do not know it or more likely it is the parking brake...get rid of it and enjoy long pad life.

that rotor looks pretty bad those pads are made for water or mud local shop told me they dont have brass or something in them the first time mud or water hits them they start to wear like over night they will fall off.

What brand of block off plate is a good one or are they all pretty much the same?

*EDIT*
What do you guys think about this rotor?

i tried a few different types of brake pads and ive found that stocker honda brake pads are by far the best. id ware through aftermarket brake pads in a few weeks or so while racing SX/ MX. but stockers last a really long time.

Thanks for the opinions fella's. I decided to buy that rotor off of e-bay and give it a try. But it is on back order til the 2nd week of may and if it doesn't show up to me before my first trip up north I'll just run the my stocker for that weekend. I also ordered a set of DP pads from C&D Racing (actually had them add it to my current order :blah: ). We'll see how those pads and the new rotor work out.....

Thanks again guys!

Just a quick note. On a recent trip (several months ago) I felt that my 400 had no power. After checking my bike out I discovered that my rear brake was sticking. My son took it off and lubed everything up and it seems to be fine now but my rear pads were completely worn down just like yours. Check the operation of your rear brake and make sure it is returning fully when you release or you may be in the same situation again real soon.

Thanks for the heads up. I currently have the entire rear caliper disassembled right now, I'm gonna replace all the seals and inspect every thing.

i go through brake pads about once a year and my rotor looks the same, it is fine but eventully you can replace it with something better.

well i dont know if many people know this...but you can have those rotars machined down....i had the rotar on my old 250x mahchined down because the pads caused serious grooving...had it machined down by a machine shop and it was just fine
