GN4 for break in, then switch over to Klotz 10-40. I love Klotz. I would buy it for the smell alone!:scary:

I use 20W-50 Mobil 1 advanced formula in the new jug, what used to be the kind with the red cap....

After I use it all up I'm going to give Amsoil a try since they sponsor my website and I can get a good deal on it.

I asked this in another thread, but you havent answered it. Will the new mobil 1 clean 5000 run ok in a 400ex? On mobil 1's spec sheet it says that all except the 10w-40 have friction modifying additives. The API label also does not say that it is energy conserving or anything.

On hondas website and in the manual all it says is to not have friction modifiers, not to say energy conserving, and to have an API of SG or higher.

The last time I changed my oil I put mobil 1 Red cap in it (the old red cap) I'm thinking of switching to a different kind of oil though because my clutch is slipping. What should I use that wont make my clutch slip??

Does anybody know if the Mobil 1 clean 5000 in the red cap will work or not? I need to take this case I bought back if it wont.

guess it's just the green thumb in me :chinese:

the new mobil 1 has like 40% more friction modifiers............ I'm not running it anymore cause of that, not healthy for the clutch in my oppinion, i know Rico was testing it in his machine but I dunno the status last I heard he flew off his quad.......... I don't think it was oil related, according above he's running it but doesn't say how it's goin

I was wondering cause on their site it says that the 10w-40 doesnt have any friction modifiers in it, but that all the other weights did have them.

not to steal the thread or anything but does anyone know if quaker state sae 10w-40 will work in my brother's 400ex. He was putting it in a little while ago and I saw that it said on the cover that it had "the power to reduce friction" is this ok or not, because I know that you aren't suppose to use the oil with the friction reducers but I wasn't sure if this was what quaker state had in it.

Anyone know???

just as long as its not synthetic automotive oil he'll be fine. Also I get my klotz right at my local honda dealer and he cuts me a pretty sweet deal on it if I buy it a case at a time.

I"m not having any problems what so ever Ugly. NO clutch slipping at all. Congrates on the new job man, sounds like something I need to do...

Heavier clutch springs are all that are required with the oil with the friction modifiers. I won't mention names but a certain engine builder has been running oil with friction modifiers for many many moons and said all the stories about it being bad for clutches is a crock of poo poo.

The stuff I run does have the gold cap, I think they all have gold caps now actually, at least the new advanced formula stuff. Now what this stuff does to a stock clutch with stock springs I don't know. I know mine works just fine and I have about 6 hours of ride time with the new Mobil 1.
