Weird 400ex sound??

ok i took my 400 around the block today for its last ride before i finnally get my rebuild goin. i rode with out a helmet dont ask me why but i heard a weird sound in the top end like a clanking around like marbles were in there bouncing around. i just had a new cam, cam chain, and valve adjustment about 2 or 3 months ago. it really only sounds bad when i really get on it i no its not the gas its stock compression with fresh 93 octane. any ideas of what causing it? could it be because of bad rings cuz its starting to smoke

the only thing it think it could be if it is comming from your top end is your valves....if your rings were making that kinda noise then i doubt it would be running. but then again im sure you would have noticed the valves clicking even with your helmet on.

yeah i still noticed it with my helmet but i didnt think it was as loud as it was.

well your redoing your top end anyways...it wont take anymore then 5 minutes to do the valves
