I'm 6ft2 and had a +2 on my 400ex, it felt a little too tall to me when sitting down....so I'm going back down an inch. It helped when standing up and going through woops though.

Instead of buying a new stem you can also get some risers that will do the same thing.

Get the stem and forget about the risers. I'm 6' and I have a +1.5" stem. Perfect for me.

think about it this way. new stems are the same price no matter what size. so get a plus 2 inch and run it with the bars that you have on there and if you dont like it you can always get a lower rise bars.

I'm 5'8" on a good day and I run a +1 on my 400 with a set of Fasst bars.

Anything over 1.5 and it'll be a stretch for cables and hoses.

would a longer stem make it easier to bend...as in it makes more leverage???

basic physics say yes but bar risers will do the same thing and think about it this way its only an inch or 2 which really will not make it that much easier to bend and after market stems are really strong. when i get mine im getting a plus 2

my idea on this is that if ever link in you steering system is so strong that it will not bend, that means that its going to be something other than on the bike, which means your arm....this is why i was thinkin that it is always a good idea to have a weak link in the steering
