i am fairly new to quads and i was wondering where i could find a VERY CHEAP pipe i could add to my '03 250ex. i am already thinking about adding a k&n air filter which i think was $40. I am looking for a slip on exhaust. I know these are cheaper. What do I have to do to install it?

Cheap?...you should never go cheap on exhaust...they is some pretty shi**y stuff out there.

i would go with HMF...the slip-on is about $188...full is about $250

im looking at the fmf megamax and a k&n filter. the megamax is $170 and the filter is $54. I am not sure if it is a slip on or not. here is the link- http://www.bikebandit.com/partsbandit/product~pf_id~3324463~dept_id~1241027.asp.

keep in mind i am not looking for racing power. what is a slip on anyways.. is it just a pipe that you bolt on and it will fit perfectly?

A slip-on replaces the current muffler and keeps the head pipes. It's a cheaper why to go. They fit like a stocker....some better then others.

I personally would not get an FMF pipe. I had a FMF quite core that would not seal correctly around the connection....I had to use sealer and it cracked at the mounting bracket after only a few rides.

The filter is fine, I have one too....just remember you may need to rejet your carb with the mods you're doing

i checked out some of the other bikes on that list and it looks like i can just leave it stock, because some of the other bikes needed to be changed around, but the 250ex just says stock all the way down the line.

why dont you want to have to rejet? its really simple and it will give you more power and make your motor last longer.

As for your filter, definately do it. Run your airbox lid off and get an outerwear for the filter.

For your pipe i'd reccomend HMF, White Brothers, and Big Gun. I've had good experiences with all three brands.

rejetting is no big deal dude. It would take like 20-30 min at the most. the only thing you could do and get away with without running lean is the k&n and airbox lid on. do whatever you want, but when you put the pipe on and all the bike does is bog and backfire then you will want to rejet. just do it or pay for it cuz its worth it and is manditory with a pipe.

the main reason i dont want to rejet is because i have absolutely no idea how to do it. fmf's website said i would not have to rejet.

what do i have to do to rejet. could anybody give me a detailed answer

you're going to have to take apart part of the carburetor, but it isnt hard at all. I had never even seen the inside of a carb when i did my first main jet swap. Its not complicated at all- go to the "articles" button at the top of the page there is probably something in there...

if not, you could get your dealership to show you how to do it, they'd probably charge about 60 bucks though

i would do it, but i dont know where the carb is or what it looks like. i could definately figure it out if i had directions and stuff

Buy a clymer manuel. It will tell you step by step how to tear your carb apart. As for pipes, stay away from FMF and DG, anything else is basically evenly matched. I would also avoid a white bros e-series, because I have heard of them breaking a lot.
