New Quad Rumors?

One of the Yamaha dealers in Tucson told me that Suzuki isn't coming out with the z450 until 06 or even 07. Just what i heard though.

as far as rumors,i really have not heard anything but that the z450 might be delayed till 06. no reason why,just a freind and i were bullchitting bout it and he told me that.

Z450 is alive and itching to be released. Just like everyone else was saying i was being told around june.

Im not sure though, if i was suzuki i would wait because the z400 seems to be holding its own with gust and jones winning on them so i wouldnt be suprised if they decide to wait longer.

i've heard the z-450 is done. Gust and Jones have probably already ridden it. Supposedly the release date is going to be August or September....


and then the yfz will be a full 450 this year...

and will the R have electric start for 06?

haha there is no way that gust has not ridden it yet. farr was testing the 450r way before most talk of it before he was even a honda factory rider. Im pretty sure some people aside from gust and jones already have z450's

this is what i heard....

preditor will be sized down to a 450 to meet the 450 limit for the production class.


ktm will be testing a prototype to possible produce in the next five years.


gas gas may be giving factory support to one worcs racer.


450r will have electric start and fuel injected by 07.

last year for the banshee and yamaha will then use that model to produce a big cc four stoke automatic to compete with v-force

as for the yfz450 there has been talk about it going up to true 450cc's since it was released. Not sure if it will finaly happen this year but its deffinatly a chance,

and about ktm they are deffinatly brewing something up. i remember at one point on their website they had a wanted ad for an engineer with atv chassis experience. I cant wait to see what they will put out. Im really happy i kept my 400ex a little while longer cause there is going to be so much happening in the near future.

Ive heard that "big" things are gonna happen to the YFZ in 06

of course i heard the the z450 is coming out this summer, Im dieng to see what it will look like.

Ive also heard that the reason the artic cat 400 didnt get the same upgrades as the z400 and kfx is because artic cat is coming out with their own sport quad. I think i heard it was going to be a 500

Its pretty much confirmed that in June the YFZ will be a true 450.... it will probably make a little bit of a difference,,, i wouldent doubt them adjusting something else because its already insane power

Wasn't Walsh using their motors in his production run quads ?? Walsh is moving to Florida to a really big shop. Makes one think doesn't it ??

Walsh knows where the yearround weather is, and where quads are getting huge... I'm sure that's why he moved.

I've heard the same thing floating around. Also it will be one of their own in house engines.

i heard 06 is the last year of the banshee, but that was from my dads Friends friend that works at a store where they deliver or sell things to a yamaha dealer over here :D

yeah i've heard that too. I wouldnt plan on seeing the kfx until 2007 and i've heard something about it being geared towards the xc scene and being fuel injected.

My local Yamaha dealer (our families pretty close with the owners) told me that they definatly wont be surprised if within the next decade Yamaha came out with a YFZ 650 or 700. I was kind of shocked, yes it's far but i thought it was pretty cool.

we might be waiting a little for the kfx but im sure i heard that the oil will run through the frame

I talked with Walsh at the end of last season he retired from GNC racing and is moving to a bigger shop in Fla. for the purpose of being able to fill orders...they are way backordered and need to turn parts down right now because they dont have the room to do it and they will now in FLa

Rumors I've heard by:

ArcticCat will be releasing a 500 EFI Sport Quad, completely their own design.

Bombardier has a DS450 in the pipeline

Honda will be making some changes to the rearend setup on the 450R

Kawasaki won't be releasing a KFX450 anytime soon, their bike will be out this year and if we're very, very lucky they will have their own 450 ATV out next year.

Polaris is working on something called a Venom 450

The Suzuki Z450 will be out in June, Walsh already has one and is developing parts for it already.

KTM will have something out probably 3 year if I would have to guess.

06 will have some minor improvements with a major overhaul slated for 07

But once again Rumors.

after the recent success mercedes had with their c280 diesels they started planing a 500cc diesel sport quad. The AMA has also agreed to let 350-550cc diesel motor run in the 450cc 4 stroke class

I highly doubt that. Yamaha has almost always had a mine-is-bigger-than-yours syndome. I'm sure it won't be a 650... that's for almost certain. If they come out with something bigger, I would definitely expect it to be in their YFM series of play quads and be a big twin to compete against the V-Force, Brute-Force, Twin Peaks, and Polaris Twin. Not looking to be out-displaced, it would likely be a "macho machine" larger than 800cc.

As for as the YFZ (racer) category, I don't forsee many changes to the YFZ450 for a while. It would be cool if a YFZ250 was introduced, but don't hold your breath. I don't think any manufacturer is ready to build a high performance ATV in that displacement range. I'm sure they know the likely customer for such an ATV are adolesents that don't put in the necessary mantenance a high performance 250F would require.

it would be damn cool though, i wish there was something like that when i was 15, the 15 year old classes are filled with 300ex's and blasters, someone needs to come out with something to dominate that class. racing is getting more popular everyday and more and more kids wanna do it.

i think they should make a 250 fourstroke class for 16 and up. i know that I personally would rather buy a race inspired 250 quad when i turn 16 than a 450 because of the weight difference and i know that it will be easier to lug around, in my mind bigger is not always better (as it seems most atv people think)
