Peirceing Cartlige Yourself?

Has anyone done this. I want to but I dont want to get my ear cut off if I do it wrong or w/e.

Do it, It will be fine. :) Make sure to clean it good, And boil the needle your using.

Can I just use the starters earing I have its pointed.. but should I boil that beforehand to clean it? or just use alcohol?

And is alcohol good to use to clean it after you've peirced it?

I don't know if I would suggest piercing the cartilage yourself, but as long as you do it right and keep it sanitary, you should be okay. If you are set on doing it yourself, read up on the subject as much as you can!

first off, dont do it yourself, unless you want it to look like you did it yourself.. save up the 25-50 bux and just go have it done professionally, and im not talking about one of those piercing boutiques you see in the mall.. they are the most unsanitary places you can find..

Go to a reputable shop and get it done, its better to be safe than sorry..

I have some pictures (someplace) of some chicks that thought that it would be cool to pierce each others ears, and the results were less than impressive.. Not to mention the severe infection they each had..

Boiling a needle isnt good enough, there is still bacteria that can live through the boiling process.. When a shop sterilizes a needle/jewlery.. they use a autoclave.. What that is, is a device that heats up to about 300 degrees, while boiling water usually gets hotter than that, what the boiling water doesnt do is add in the pressure.. A good autoclave will build between 20-30 psi inside of the chamber while running, and is ample enough to kill all micro-organisms..

If you STILL insist on doing it yourself, i will send you the stuff to do it, because in a afterlife i was a tattooist - peircer.. All sterilized and ready to use.. but i HIGHLY suggest you get it done at a shop, and not at home.

Boiling water only gets up to 212*F at sea level, less at higher evelvations;)

Just got my ear pierced at Silver Safari and it was 7 dollars to get it gunned in and 33 to get the needle ( i did this) but it ended up costing 11 dollars since i had my ear pierced once before wasnt bad at all.

i pierced my cartlege, and my two ear lobes my self and they are fine..i also gauged my cartlege to like 12 or 14 and my ears are 0's..i also have my tongue pierced...
