On the 300EX, is there an easy way of checking the timing without removing the valve cover?

I just put the motor back together after getting a new (used) bottom end...I'm relatively sure I got the timing set right, but she won't start...fuel is good, spark is good...any other things to look for?

I had this bike down to the frame and its taken me a few months to get her back together, so I might have missed something somewhere...i'm sure its something small that'll really tick me off when I find it!

No, you have to take the cover off, unfortunatly.

if you have a spark - check if the spark apear when valve are totaly close!

you can check it easy w/o open all head cover.

if it does i'd go to fuel system.

remember that spark come two times!
1st it on time
2nd it's 360 degrees oposit.

if you messed with the electical, check the kill button switch. if it is turning over but not firing, you could have a bad kill switch. if you have the wiring apart it is the black/white wire that need power to run. try jumping it out.
