I am installing a kick starter, and I am going to remove the battery, and I need to know if I can remove the fan, or if I have to keep it? And my bike wasn't running good at all, so I had to ride it with the lights on, but I am taking the lights off, and I have herd that there is a aftermarket coil that I have to put on it, or something to fix this. What do I need to do?

I know you can take that fan off, and i dont no about it running bad, maybe since you are loosing the E-start it will run fine.

u cant remove the battery it needs to stay in place, trail tech sells something that goes in place of the battery but i know you cant get rid of it, causes stator probs, even if its dead it has to be in there

you know i find it really ridculous all the wires on these things i finally put my wiring harness back on and wtf there is so many wires, the wr 450 harness is so simple and this thing is a nightmare, hey anyone know if a yz 450 motor will fit right in a yfz?

Well can't I get a diff coil, and get rid of the battery? Will the yfz run too hot without the fan?

Not if you have it jetted right, i have had mine off for a year now. I ran my YFZ with no batt or capacitor ran fine. But you should get one, gives the CDI juice

Compacitor... what is that?

I have the compacitor in mine. It takes the AC off the stator and turns it into DC so you can run the fan. So if you are wanting to keep the fan then get the compacitor from Trail Tech.
That is with a kick start only bike, the compacitor runs every thing but it need to be running to do so.

I have the same problem with my 05 missing terrible without the lights on. I had Mark Baldwin check in to it, and theres a diode he is getting in that fixes it.It is is supposed to be an update from Yamaha. His # is 440-224-2734, they cost 40.00.

Once you get rid of all the electricals in the bike (starter, battery, lights) I would suggest rewindin the stator to DC power to provide the CDI clean power. ;)

Contact Trailtech, they have the best costumer service I have ever seen and knows the YFZ's electricals VERY well.
