When you change your oil and drain it out of everything, do you put oil in the base of the motor too or just fill the tank and run it then fill it the rest of the way.

so its alright so empty the oil out of the base and then start it as long as there is oil in the tank?

The 400 has a dry sump oil pump that will take it to the motor, one of the best systems available ,alot of race cars use this system.:D. I like to spin it over with the switch off, it kinda pre-lubes it before the motor starts up while the crank turns slower than running .

did it get really hot on you when you first started it up, cause after i did my oil change it got real hot on me and was making a ticking sound. i havent started it since. i changed the filter and drained all of the oil, even the case. i put in 2 quarts of oil. 10w-40. my buddy told me when u change the crankcase oil too that you need to put about 2.5 quarts. any suggestions

If you drain your oil and change your oil filter, torque it all back and fill the dry sump full, put the dipstick back in it and that is all the oil you need. Crank it over but dont start it for 15 or 20 seconds then start it and you are set.
