Thank god it came out without much fuss, considering it is a 99, and sees a lot of salt water. I twisted on it with a rachet, theen pounded, twisted, pounded, etc. It came out in an hour or so. What also really helped is that i made a special tool thing that works very nice. I took a bolt a little smaller than the pivot bolt, and ground the end of it so that it was small enough to fit inside the swingarm hole. It fit in there, and didn't deflect when you hit it hard. Now, just got to cash in 30 bucks for a new bolt and nut!

If you get a new bolt and nut, you should have them molycoated by Pappy to prevent future rusting...

Thats what I'm gonna do. Just take it out when I do my regular maintenance.

^^^ Exactly my point. In case anything breaks, or my motor has to be taken out.

if its not broke dont fix it:p i've heard the horror stories of taking them out. i'll deal with the pounding and breaking when i need to.

That's the dumbest thing I've heard in a while... a little preventive maintenance and it's not a "horror story"

Not taking the bolt out is really just being lazy. All you have to do is pull it out, put grease on it, and tighten it back up. Better then waiting and having to cut it out...

have fun when you go to pull it out and its rusted in there and you gotta get it out with plasma cutters:)

Every 2 months? I plan on doing it once every year. My bike is used, and I knocked out the bolt with really little problem for the first time it's ever been taken out. Its an '01.

But then again, if you do it every 2 months, it will NEVER be hard to take out of course, so maybe you're doing the correct thing. I still think thats a little too often though.
