What a great weekend it was for ATV Racing at Round #5 of the Grand National Championships!
The weather once again called for clear skies and the temperatures were average The only down point was the night time lows that generated the last of the frost for the winter.
We left for the track late Thursday Night and tried to calculate the 8 hour drive so that we could get a shot of the sunrise over Lovers Leap! Route 58 provides some of the best mountain trails for the nature loving racers!
Well so much for leaving on time! Just as we were ready to pull out, I forgot that I needed to finish the taxes and send them in before we left! Either that or no refund! An hour later the taxes were sent accepted and DONE! Whew! So far no Audits! Thank God!

Anyway, we flew down I-79 with A 40 foot fifth wheel at about 90 MPH! SCREAMIN!!!!!!!! Made up a good bit of time but still missed the sunrise by about 20 minutes! Oh well, still got some great pics from Lovers leap!

For more pics of the race and just about every class from the weekend, visit our web site and click through some of the photos from your class and the PRO classes also! We'll be at every National for Photos and video so stop by and check us out!

The Birch Creek Facility is ran by three Guys, Carl Reynolds , Ken Ferrell and Mark Keen! Each of them know what their job is and they do it great! Carl does more of the administrating duties as the promoter, Ken is the dirt mover and track prep and Mark does just about anything that might need done! The three of them make an awesome team!
We pulled into the track Friday to find it packed to the entrance gates at 8:oo A.M.!
I knew at that time that the event would be big!
The track was getting watered down with their sprinkler system and I thought I was dreamin cause a girl in a bikini top walked by at the same time!
SOMEBODY WAKE ME UP I'm DREAMIN!!

That was until I saw Ken Ferrell sitting on the tractor ready to groom some more!
DREAM OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We got parked and unloaded and practice was ready to start! The Pro's went out and one thing I noticed was Suzuki pulling a lot of holeshot practice! The Suzuki crew was up to something or just making sure they had the right gearing! Looked like they had a game plan though!
Jim Jones (Jeremiah's Dad sure does Glow in that Whit Suzuki Shirt) (Go Head Jim with your bad self)!!!!!!!!!!!

After Pro Practice, Natalie and Lysinger had a game of Bumper cars going on back up to the pits! (Just some friendly fun)!

RemNS
04-22-2005, 08:03 PM
Some guys were ready for the fast paced laps and lippy jumps heading into Round #5 others were wore out before the 3rd practice!

Ok we'll give this rider the benefit of doubt and blame it on the all night drive he might have had!

RemNS
04-22-2005, 08:07 PM
Practice was over and all but 1 or 2 made it out without any bodily harm!
Time for TECH INSPECTION!
Mark Straubanger and Ray Christy set up for tech. And wouldnt you guess that all the noise would be right in front of our trailer! Oh well for getting some rest from the drive!

RemNS
04-22-2005, 08:14 PM
The Tech Inspection line was long but went through pretty quick!
What's nice about the GNC series is that everyone pitches in and makes the necessary checks.........Banger, Ray, Smitty (sometimes), Dave Screws, and a few more always want to help out (even my daughter when she goes)!
There were a few guys that were at their first national and needed to fix some things before getting the tech sticker though!
For those of you that had to make changes.......just think of the reason for these guys checking is only to help you out!
No number plate you might not get scored,,,,,No tight hubs, you might loose a wheel or worse...... No kill you might run someone over...... Too wide,, To bad!!!!!!
It's for your safety !

RemNS
04-22-2005, 08:16 PM
The tech line is where all the horse play and trickery goes on ! A father and son have a little fun while waiting in the tech line!

Friday was over and the early morning Saturday sun had everyone ready to go for the weekend!
My guys were out hanging banners and enjoying the sunny skies!
I give them credit they were on the ball this weekend! Banners were everywhere!

RemNS
04-22-2005, 08:24 PM
The fans were out everywhere and Birch Creek also did an excellent job with the local radio spots ! We heard radio commercials on a few different channels over the weekend! I was hesitant to see if the spots would work so I checked around on Sunday and I did see a lot of spectators in the crowd!
Give it a few more years guys and we;ll start seeing the crowds show up like the outdoors have!
Rome wasnt built in a year and the more we get year by year I am sure they bring a bunch morre friends and family the next!
Getting bigger and better!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RemNS
04-22-2005, 08:25 PM
It was nice to see most of the Pro's out and about most of the weekend mingling in with the crowd!

I wanted to do a few different classes from Birch Creek but had some problems with the computer at the track! Lost over 350 photos from Saturday and man was I pissed when I found out!
We've been trying to get the operating system upgraded to do WMV (windows video) files for the site and it has just screwed things uparound her for a little while! Lost those pics and some crashing problems when using other photo files!
Fixed it last night though! That's why the report is today instead of Yesterday!
Damn Technology dependencies!
ProAm classes have fizzled down from the last few races! No 3 and 4 gates from Birch Creek!
A whole bunch of talented riders though!!

RemNS
04-23-2005, 06:19 AM
I'll name your next two Pro riders from the Pro Am classes right now.
Josh Upperman and Rocco Arno!
Upperman dominated the ProAm Unlimited class on both Saturday and Sunday!
Arno went 1-2 for the win in ProAm Production with Cody Miller putting in one heck of a ride on Sunday!

Alright onto Saturdays Qualifiers!

It was anyones battle for the holeshot! But the media All Stars wanted the top spot the most in Unlimited!

RemNS
04-23-2005, 06:21 AM
The rest of the pack was on their heels though!
The dependables were right there with #270 Creamer, #101 Arno , #41 Chaler and the rest following for the lead!

RemNS
04-23-2005, 06:24 AM
The photo above told the story for #815 Ross and #048 Baker!
The holeshot is important at this track and they didnt get what they needed!
If you were in back of the pack you had your work cut out for you as 20 riders can kick up a lot of dust and when you cant see; well you cant make up the ground very quick!
And when you can see; well someones gonna hit someone and your guess is a good as mine but a few riders were invade by the dust !

RemNS
04-23-2005, 06:28 AM
#101 Rocco Arno grabs the lead in the ProAM unlimited class on Saturday!

RemNS
04-23-2005, 06:29 AM
#215 Thomas Hager was following in a close second as the first lap was winding up!

RemNS
04-23-2005, 06:30 AM
#751 Trent Kandel was making up some ground after a mid pack start !
It's great to see Trent back up and running after a bad crash at Macon on the holeshot!

RemNS
04-23-2005, 06:31 AM
The Unlimited class showed some great battles all weekend as positions were being swapped lap by lap!
#1 Chad Lohr and #16 Johnny Hale battled early in Saturday's Moto!

RemNS
04-23-2005, 06:36 AM
#20 Josh Upperman was on fire in the Unlimited Class!
He is steady and dependable from week to week!

RemNS
04-23-2005, 06:38 AM
Sheridan Race Product's, #270 Josh Creamer from Connecticut was also on fire but cant seem to put two motos together for the weekend!

RemNS
04-23-2005, 06:42 AM
#41 Bryan Chaler was once again in contention for the lead on Saturday !
I'll add Bryan to the list as a future pro. He is a great guy and always in a top spot for the weekend!

RemNS
04-23-2005, 06:43 AM
#215 Thomas Hager put together a good ride for the weekend taking 3rd in his qualifier on Saturday!

RemNS
04-23-2005, 06:45 AM
#751 Kandel and #743 Brock Lyons were still battling in mid pack as the race neared the halfway mark!

RemNS
04-23-2005, 06:48 AM
Lohr and Hale also continued with their battle! But #815 Bobby Ross was one rider that made up some ground from the start! Here, Ross puts the pressure on Hale!
Like I said the holeshot means a lot here at Birch Creek. You almost have to hope that someone makes a mistake to gain a spot! That and the higher level of competition makes for some very competitive racing!

RemNS
04-23-2005, 06:58 AM
#41 Chaler gets around Arno early but could not make it stick for the end!

RemNS
04-23-2005, 07:01 AM
Another great ride on Saturday went to #52 Chad Weinen as he took the win in the second gate of Pro Am Unlimited

RemNS
04-23-2005, 07:03 AM
#270 Josh Creamer would have the motor blues going on Saturday as he had to sit it out and watch after the mid way point of the qualifiers!
I think Mike Walsh is asking Josh what that LUV is for on his back!

RemNS
04-23-2005, 07:06 AM
#52 Chad Wienen takes the checkers and the top spot in Gate #1!

RemNS
04-23-2005, 07:07 AM

RemNS
04-23-2005, 07:20 AM
#41 Bryan Chaler would take the 3rd spot!

RemNS

Some good racing going on and some good weather to help out!
That's all for now!

Send me some email letting me know which classes to post from race to race!

I was going to do the Youth Production but there were a few problems with this class that ahppened at the track that we will leave at the track and not add to!

Remember guys no matter what racing is racing and if your not having fun doing it than dont come out and take it out on everyone else!

We'll see everyone at Budds Creek next week!

I thought I'd give the site some rec and now I know who is who!
I should have let my daughter check over the post she would have corrected me!
It's great to see all of the ladies out there giving it their all!
I try and get you girls as much recognition as possible and as many pics as possible!
I know I'll be a crazy Dad out there cheering on my daughter in another year!
My son also!
Jocelynn will be getting to the races as soon as Softball is over and she'll be getting the reports done for the Womens class!
I told her it would be good to keep an eye out for the competition :-) !

See Ya at Budds!

Rick

I will work on having your covered for the ladies for Budds Creek by sending another reporter to Budds Creek because I completely understand what you mean by covering 7 classes.

Thanks for the great coverage and photos Rick
