i dont really think there is much of a difference if you want a better trail machine than these two get a z400 i ride my 450r in the trail and i have no problems but if all your gonna do is ride trail and dont need as much power as the 450's do get a z400 or even a raptor

If you don't mind kick starting, get the Honda. If you must have eletric start get the Yammi. I worked for a 2 dealerships, 1 for 6 years and the other for a year and would not advise getting a Raptor and would stay away from any Suzuki (quad).

Well, I own a 450r, and my best friend has a yfz.

Their pretty close in power, none of them really have much bottom end.

For trail riding, I'd look at a raptor or pred. Maybe a z400 or a 2005 ex400 w/ reverse.

You dont need all that top end power your gonna get with the 450's when your on the trails. They arent great trail bikes, its not what they were built for.

With some of the other bikes, your getting a smoother bottom end, a loss up top, but your gaining reverse, which is good in the woods.

For trail riding, Id go with the Honda. Softer suspension, better brakes, softer seat and a mellower engine.

This is a Yamaha rider being honest.

Check out the z400, I think their great for the trails...or a 400ex - those are pretty much bullet proof. Only way to really know whats best for you is to try them all out:)

I guess it depends on your skill level and things like that. Its really a decision that you have to make for yourself, we could all sit here and throw around which bike to get, but in the end that choice is yours and yours alone. Ive been through some tight trails on my yfz before, and I found myself using the clutch alot, whereas on a 400ex you dont have to quite as much. But if you dont think thats a problem then get a 450r or yfz. It almost comes down to flipping a coin as to which one you should get, if you are a honda guy get the trx or if you are a yamaha guy get the yfz. Or if you want something that wont fatique you very quickly look into a kfx, z400, or new style 400ex. Whichever one you buy you will have a blast on anyway.
