The truth about 450r and 400ex hoods

hey, for all u little fellers that told me that 450r hoods and 05 400ex hoods are the same well u are wrong. i got a black maier hood today, looks great. tried bolting it up, but its TOO BIG. DOESNT FIT! meow im pissed cuz im stuck with a 450r hood.

I got a 2001 400 with the 05' conversion.. Right now it has the 450r QUADTECH carbon fiber hood on as seen in the picture. I also have the 450r stock hood and headlight that also fits no prob. I just had to make a headlight bracket that my 01' lacks. All you need is alittle custom fab!!!:D

definetly.. completely understanable! Im not sure about the Maier hoods and how they come.. or how they bolt up.. As for QUADTECH, 4 holes and it comes with brand new hardware.. takes less the 7mins to put on!!

i wrote maier an e mail and i asked them if they were in the process of making a hood for the 400s and they said they had one there but they didnt no when it would be available. they said check back in 3-4 weeks.

that quad tech hood looks sweet but i dont want to pay 170 bucks for it when i no i will scratch it up right away:D ill pay the 50 for a decent looking one. lol

Whats up guys.. to start, on ebay theres a guy i think named EBARGINLLC.. he makes cheap ***** carbon fiber QUADTECH look-alikes. You can pick'em up for 50-60bucks. True carbon also. Just a suggestion. My boy bought his hoods from there.

That thing in the pic I just posted that looks like a reverse knob.. lol.. it is the place for it, but its actually my ignition key and nuetral light!! Perfect spot for it right!?!?!?!!!!

And MUDDY400EX.. If you have a 99-04 400, I have a complete nose from my 01' with the QUADTECH hood already on it. It would take you 10mins to take yours off, put this one on and go. There for you can still keep your original nose with headlights. Let me know. I was gonna put it on EBAY. Heres a pic of what it looks like on the 99-04 body style..

For you guys that wanna do the 05' conversion, simple 10min job. Go to your honda dealer, order just the two front fenders. Everything else bolts up in the exaxt same exsisting holes. Only thing you'll need is the hood and headlight or an after market hood. If you go with the headlight, its harder cuz you have to fabricate a bracket to hold the headlight. Kinda pain in the *****. Its all up to what you wanna do. Carbon hood is easier if you dont care to have a headlight.

Oh by the way, you have to order the 05' decals too! I forgot to mention that. Basically the fenders and decals will run you eaxctly $164.26... Depending on your sales tax too.. Here in jersey was only 6% so that was my total!!..lol!!! If you want part numbers-

Fenders->LF-> 61200-HN1-A40ZA
->RF-> 61100-HN1-A40ZA
-> $62.33 PER FENDER

Decals->LF-> 87121-HN1-A40ZA
->RF-> 87120-HN1-A40ZA
-> $15.15 PER DECAL

i like the key in the reverse hole idea... kinda clever.,,,, get a slose up of the neutra light... did the key switch fit right in?

Muddy400ex.. the hoods are a direct fit.. no problem. Just make 4 holes and your good to go. But you WILL have to hack off the headlight housing..

I will definetly get a close up tomorrow of the key in the reverse spot. It fit really really close. All i did was wrap alittle black duck-tape around to make it bigger. That way it fit really tight.I have no probs what so ever with it. N-light was a quick drill hole right below the key switch,, popped it in no prob. Looks factory!! Pic tomorrow..
