you port your head on a 4 stroke and your cyl. on a 2 stroke.its all where the gas goes in.

So when u port your head it's different that porting ur cylinder?Which gives more performance on a 416 and full exhaust?

ok, the piston rides in a sleeve. this piece is pressed into a cylinder. the head is what contains the valves. whne you port the head, it is for air flow purposes. i think when you are talking about the cylinder, you actually are referring to boring the sleeve. you need to do this when you go larger on a piston.

a 2 srtokes cylinder had holes in them call ports it is what lets you gas in and exhast out. To improve power you port the cylinder on a 2 stroke. This helps flow more air in and out. The head on a 2 stroke contains no valves like a 4 stroke. it is just like a cap on the cylinder. 4 strokes have no ports in the cylinder it is just smooth. so to modify the air flow (porting) you have to port your head. On a 4 stroke you can not port you cylinder.
