Time for some new front tires. The stock radials are defintely pushing too much in the corners. The toe-in is set to 1/2 inch. I'm leaning towards holeshots over razrs.
Does anyone have any FIRST HAND experience with 23'' tires on the front. Do the 23's push more than the 22's?

I too am in need for some new tires to replace my worn out 23" ITP Holeshot XCT's up front.

To answer your question on, "Do 23" tires push more than the 22's?" I found that my 23" XCT fronts push more than my 22" stock tires. I really like the stock front tires for handling characteristics, but not for durability, especially for hare scrambles.

I run my 23" most of the time for hare scrambles and trail riding. Now that I got aftermarket suspension, I can change the ride height for the terrain...... Meaning lowering it to help reduce the pushing, but keeping it high enough for obsticles.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think Maxxis is coming out with a new Razr called Razr 2's that are designed specifically for Hare Scrambles. I know you are leaning towards ITP versus Maxxis, but just thought I'd throw that in.

I have ran both in races and I now stick with just the 22's the steer a little better. the 21's steer even better but are only 4-ply. The 23's are good if it is muddy and you need the extra clearance, But my pic is the 22's.

I run the 22" RAZR 6 plys - been very happy with them so far.

With the RAZRs there doesn't seem to be as big of an actual size difference between the 22's and 23's as there is between the 21's and 22's

I run the 23 holeshots . Better ground clearance, and last long, handle I think as good as 22 if you lower the front a little. flat proof. 20 holeshots on rear 22 holeshots for mud.

I run the 23" ITP's for the ground clearance and they are a little narrower than the 22" ITP's. I had a problem with the 22's out side knobs catching on roots and ruts and wanting to make the front end dart around. I have seen some of the other pros running 22's but they cut the out side knobs off to keep this from happening.

I haven't run the 23's (sorry sgaexer), but I like my 22s. I also have a question, does anyone else run the Ohtsu Pro-comps on the front? Even when they're approaching the end of their life, they still hook very well IMO. I think they work better than the raz'r or holeshot fronts for the woods. They're 4 ply, but I haven't had any flat problems in 2 years (1 plug so far). 6 ply would be nice, but until they start making them...

Pro Comps used to be "THE TIRE" in GNCC racing in the late 80's and early 90's untill Holeshot XC's came out. They handled great but flats were a big problem. They wore out pretty quick too.

Thanks Jeff, that would explain why it's getting pretty tough to find places that sell them. I only found 2, Honda of Troy and Pro-Fab ATV. Do you carry them at the quadshop?

Shave off the outside treads of hole shots and they handle a lot nicer and do not try to pull you out of ruts.

Hey, Jeff what are you using to cut the outer knobs off the tires.

I don't cut my knobs off, I run the 23's which are narrower than the 22's. The guys cutting the knobs off the 22's are using a tire iron or horse hoof clippers.

Are the 23" heavier or about the same since they are narrower?

I have some 22's coming ..
I hope I like them.

Do you guys drop down a tooth when running the bigger tires?

I am running 22" razors. If you get zps suspension i would think about getting the 23" just because of ground clearance have about five spot every track that i hit the frame in the ruts don't really get stuck but something to think about.

What would be a good setup for MX? I need to get some new tires all the way around.

Hey Shoope I found weights of the new Razr2 tires fronts to give you some ideas on weight difference.
21" -- 12.3 lbs.
22" -- 12.5 lbs.
23" -- 13.1 lbs.

If anyone have what the weight of front a rear stockers on a 400 are I would be interested in that info for my tire selection.

Thanks,

Not much difference are they?
I bet they are a few lbs heavier than stockers though.

You have to figure that you will have more weight with more plys. I'll take more weight for a stronger more realiable tire that handles better. Less roll in the corners.
